Alien Breed - Tower Assult: CD32 Version --------------------------- You switch on the machine and you put the CD in the drive. Up comes and a screen letting you choose to either run Tower Assult or Alien Breed 2. You choose Alien Breed - Tower Assult and the scene is set! You are treated to a 5 minute animation/movie of what you are about to embark upon, using gfx which you thought was unheard of on an CD32 without a MPEG card. The animation is a HAM8 movie, using classic style movie techniques found in movies such as a Space Oddssey 2001 for a view of space and the space station, and an intro as to what you are about to embark upon (the plot), which uses (real) actors to take you through this opening journey, you arm up and get ready to depart. Your mission will be far from easy, and as you will discover when you start, you (or and your partner) are the only survivor(s) to take on 5 towers (multi-floors) infested with Aliens and dead, mutilated bodies to be found virtually every step you take. You are guided through with the use of smart cards, maps, terminals, and more (including speech samples used all throghout the game). Along the way you have opportunity to be bigger, better (?) weapons. The in-game gfx are no way near to the quality of the intro, yet they match up to the gfx of the likes of other top AGA games. Gameplay is probably is one of its strongest things, well planned and well thought out. Addictiveness, you keep comming back for more, get a second player and you'll be stuck on the game for days on end. Music, well music (or sound quality) seemed to be the aspect thought about least here, but the sound fx used throughout the game for the games, aliens comming out of the floor and so on are great. Changes since Alien Breed 2(AB2). Still the same type of game as AB2, but improved gfx, has an intro, bigger levels, more levels, difficulty curve much more moderate, (not that i can proove it yet but the box says) over 200 different ways to complete the game, and some other changes. If you have a copy of Alien Breed 2 (or previous versions), the purchase will be no waste of money, if you've never bought this game before it is an absolute MUST! --------------------------------------------------------------------- Machine Requirements: CD32 with 2MB RAM (works even better with SX1) (May work with Zappo drive on 1200) Controller: CD32, Joystick Cost: Varies alot (I paid $60) Ratings: Graphics Addictiveness [*********.] 90% [*********+] 95% Gameplay Sound [********+.] 85% [********..] 80% Value [*********.] 91% OVERALL RATING: 93% --------------------------------------------------------------------- Article by: Guy Nathan
